    bullet point  Faculty Development Fellowship

The University of Pittsburgh Faculty Development Fellowship is a flexible and innovative program with faculty committed to training excellent academic family physicians.

The fellowship was developed in 1982 to prepare family physician faculty to train family medicine residents, especially in community hospital settings. It has evolved to be a training program for those interested in being faculty across the full-spectrum of academic family medicine. Our fellowship is recognized as one of the leading programs in the country and has graduated more fellows than any other full-time program. Fellowship faculty have also trained fellows from sports medicine, geriatrics, primary care, internal medicine, general academic pediatrics, and pharmacy residents.

There are opportunities during the fellowship to obtain a Master of Public Health or a Master of Medical Education. The areas of focus include Global Health, Hospitalist, OB Education, Tropical Medicine, HIV Medicine, Alternative Medicine, and many more.

The five curriculum domains are 1) Teaching and Learning, 2) Professional and Leadership Development, 3) Research and Scholarly Activity, 4) Administration and Management, and 5) Clinical Care.

We develop Family Medicine educators to become master teachers, collaborative researchers, skilled clinicians, and effective leaders.
