Dr. Eric Miller is the Director of UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Obstetrics-Gynecology Program. He received his medical degree at Cornell Medical College in New York City, and completed a family practice residency in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Miller spent five years in a rural family practice in northern Maine. He pursued his interest in ob-gyn by completing a residency program at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1988, he joined the faculty at UPMC Shadyside where he maintains a private practice in addition to his teaching responsibilities. Dr. Miller received UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program’s Teaching Award in 1991 and 1992. He received a commendation from the chairman of UPMC Shadyside’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department for his low caesarean rate in 1993.
Private deliveries, 60 to 70 per year, are available for teaching purposes. Dr. Miller also sees ob-gyn patients with the residents several times a week and conducts a weekly gynecological procedure session. The residents learn colposcopy, cervical biopsies, endocervical curettage, endometrial biopsies, vulva and vaginal biopsies, and office evaluation of infertility.
Dr. Miller and his wife enjoy gardening, tennis, cross-country skiing, travel, the Pittsburgh Symphony, theater, exploring the Pittsburgh restaurant scene and visiting their three grandchildren.
