Eric Miller, MD is the Director of the UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency's Obstetrics-Gynecology Program. He received his medical degree at Cornell Medical College in New York City, and completed a family practice residency in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Miller spent five years in a rural family practice in northern Maine. He pursued his interest in ob-gyn by completing a residency program at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD. In 1988, he joined the faculty at UPMC Shadyside where he maintains a private practice in addition to his teaching responsibilities. Dr. Miller received the UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program Teaching Award in 1991 and 1992. In 1993, he received a commendation from the chairman of the UPMC Shadyside Ob/Gyn Department for his low cesarean rate.
Private deliveries, 600 to 700 a year, are available for teaching purposes. Dr. Miller also sees ob-gyn patients with the residents weekly and conducts a biweekly gynecological procedure session in which the residents learn colposcopy, cervical biopsies, endocervical curettage, endometrial biopsies, vulva and vaginal biopsies, and office evaluation of infertility.
Dr. Miller, his wife, and three children, enjoy gardening, athletics, cross-country skiing, and travel.
