Interests:
Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?
I have interests in women’s health and palliative medicine.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?
I chose Shadyside because it has the reputation of training well-rounded and competent physicians with a comprehensive and flexible curriculum that allows residents the opportunity to explore multiple areas of interest. During my fourth year rotation at Shadyside, I was impressed by the emphasis on education and focus on quality improvement. The residents and faculty are enthusiastic about family medicine, eager to teach, and work well as a cohesive team. I like that Shadyside is a community-focused hospital within a large university-based healthcare system.
I was born and raised an hour from Pittsburgh, and most of my family lives here now. Pittsburgh is an exciting city, with great food, entertainment and cultural diversity.

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?
I aspire to become a well-rounded family physician with the ability to work in a variety of clinical settings. I look forward to the continuity of care with my patients and treating them as whole people, which were the reasons I chose Family Medicine. As I hope to someday have a career in medical education, I know the people at Shadyside will help me get there.

Do you have any special interests outside of the residency program?
In my free time, I enjoy cooking for my friends and family. As my friends’ homes are spread across the Midwest, I enjoy going to visit each of them and discovering what each place has to offer. I am also an avid reader and lover of dogs, especially my rescue mutt, Beans.
