Interests:
Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?
I am very interested in Neuromusculoskeletal and Sports Medicine.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?
I chose this program because I know that training here will challenge me and help me to grow both as a physician and as a person. When I rotated at Shadyside as a student, I enjoyed the diversity of patients, residents, and faculty and saw firsthand the camaraderie and mentorship that I was looking for. The program is well respected and established, with some great features like an OMT clinic, rotations at Children’s and Magee, and a dedicated Family Medicine Unit in the hospital.

Pittsburgh is an awesome city with all sorts of proud and hardworking people, and I love the combination of art, technology, sports, and food that makes it unique. Having grown up in western Pennsylvania, I am excited to be moving closer to friends and family and to explore the communities that make this area such a great place to live. Simply put, Pittsburgh has it all.

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?
I want to become the best physician that I can and to share my passion and energy with those around me. I enjoy working hard and thrive when working within a team where I can exchange ideas and learn with others. Coming to an urban academic setting, I want to broaden my perspective and see a high volume of patients to gain the knowledge and experience to provide excellent care wherever life takes me next. Specifically, I want to continue training in OMT, add more procedures to my repertoire, and practice effective preventative medicine. I know that three years of hard work at Shadyside can lead to a successful career in any facet of family medicine.

Do you have any special interests outside of the residency program?
Outside of medicine, I enjoy cooking, exercise, home improvement, agriculture, working outside, movies, and watching sports, especially the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Penn State football. Also, I was recently married and I love spending time with my better half.
