Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?
One of the best parts about Family Medicine is the ability to manage so many different conditions and the continuity of care this allows! I am not in a special track or focus but I am interested in women’s health, integrative medicine, and sports medicine.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?
UPMC Shadyside is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Pittsburgh! This location also allows exposure to a wide range of patient demographics. As part of a larger health care system, there are a lot of resources available to residents! I love that there is a dedicated teaching floor for the family medicine inpatient service and the clinic (which is conveniently across the street from the hospital) is very well equipped and well managed. Most of all, the residents and staff are incredibly friendly and supportive – I instantly felt comfortable during my interview and this type of environment is essential for promoting learning.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and I know that it is home to the friendliest people and most committed sports fans! Pittsburgh has seen a huge revitalization over recent years – there is so much to do in the city and definitely something for everyone!

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?
To learn as much as possible from each patient I encounter. I believe an integral part of being an excellent physician is accepting a role as a lifelong learner and the caliber of your training certainly fosters this skill.

Do you have any special interests outside of the residency program?
Spending time with friends and family, traveling, sunshine, cooking, soccer, interior design, and people watching.
