IMG Frequently Asked Questions

How do I Apply?

Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). More information is available through the ERAS Web Page.

Does your program sponsor visas?

Yes, our hope is to be able to offer H-1B status as well as J-1 status to incoming residents.  That said since many candidates will not have sat for USMLE Step 2 Clinical, USCIS has yet to disclose whether the absence of USMLE Step 2 Clinical will render a candidate ineligible for H-1B status, which would make it legally impossible for us to sponsor the resident for the H-1B status. If it becomes legally impossible for us to sponsor the resident for H-1B status, the resident will need to understand and agree to J-1 status for the fulfillment of the residency program.

What are the requirements for IMGs to be considered for an interview?

You must be ECFMG certified and have all the necessary documentation to complete your ERAS file and graduate from medical school within the past 2 years. Incomplete ERAS files will not be reviewed.

What if I graduated more than two years ago and have been inactive clinical practice?

Applicants who graduate more than two years ago and have been active in a primary care clinical practice will be considered.

When can I submit my application to ERAS?

Applications will be accepted and reviewed beginning September 1 through December 1, 2022. Any applications received after December 1 will not be reviewed.

What is the Minimum Score Required for USMLE Steps 1 and 2?

Preference will be given to applicants who have passed Steps 1 and 2 by the second attempt.  Historically, applicants who have a 3-digit score of 250 and above have been most successful.

Are you required to have had prior US clinical experience? If so, what type?

Applicants who have had prior clinical training in the US or have graduated from a school using US-style training have been most successful.

What percentage of residents in your program are international medical graduates?

How are residents selected?
