  • First Year Residents

Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?

I am in the Osteopathic Recognition Track. Also, I am also interested in women’s health and underserved medicine.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?

Although I did not get to rotate at UPMC, I had heard great things about the program from my peers and seniors in medical school. During my interview day, I could tell that the program had a supportive environment and they cared about resident wellness. The faculty, staff, and residents were all so kind and welcoming. Additionally, Pittsburgh has a diverse population, and the program really emphasizes care for underserved communities, which is a huge interest of mine. I knew I would get exceptional training at this program and that is why I chose it. Pittsburgh itself is a great city with so much to offer, with all its rich history, culture, and natural beauty. There are many restaurants, museums, art galleries, and an aviary as well. I love how it is also close to my home in Oakville, Canada. Excited to be here for the next three years (maybe longer, who knows) and discover more of Pittsburgh.

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?

My goal is to become a well-rounded and competent physician by the end of residency. I hope to also become more confident in areas I am weak in such as procedural skills, inpatient medicine, and osteopathic manipulative medicine.

Do you have any special interests outside of the residency?

I absolutely love spending time with my friends and family. I also enjoy watching thriller movies, listening to music (Swiftie), visiting museums, and playing board games.
