Benefit Concert for Shoulder to Shoulder Pittsburgh-San Jose

It was an evening of beautiful selections by Brahms and Gershwin performed by our very own Vice Chief for Family and Community Medicine, Barry Coutinho, MD, and five members of the world-class Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for our annual Shoulder to Shoulder Pittsburgh-San Jose fundraising event.

We were also grateful to have had the knowledgeable and ever-gracious Jim Cunningham from WQED with us to share his own special set of program notes, all of which made for an outstanding event.  The concert was performed before a live audience at the Herberman Conference Center at UPMC Shadyside.

As a teenager, Dr. Coutinho appeared in the final rounds of the United Kingdom BBC Young Musician of the Year National Music Competition and won several awards at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He was awarded the Associate Diploma with Honors from the London Royal College of Music and was later a double prize winner in both the 2011 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, and the 2013 Washington D.C. International Piano Artists competition.
