Dr. Amaris Yandel is a board-certified OBGYN. She is a Pittsburgh native and graduated from Schenley High School. Dr. Yandel attended college at Loyola University Maryland where she received an undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in Spanish. After college, she participated in AmeriCorps as part of the Pittsburgh Health Corps.
During her AmeriCorps experience, she worked with a group called the Birth Circle, who provided doula care and education to underserved women in the East End of Pittsburgh. Following this experience, Dr. Yandel went on to medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed a residency in OB/GYN at the Reading Hospital in eastern Pennsylvania where she received comprehensive training in obstetrics and gynecology including routine and high-risk obstetric care, minimally invasive surgery, vaginal surgery, and robotics.
After completion of residency, she returned to her roots in Pittsburgh where she now works for East Liberty Family Health Care Center as an OB/GYN and is associate faculty at UMPC Shadyside and UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital. In addition to providing comprehensive care to the patients she serves, Dr. Yandel is interested in decreasing health disparities and improving access to care for all women.
