Elizabeth Puleo, MD

  • First Year Resident

Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?

I am not in a special track. My interests within Family Medicine include women's health, addiction medicine, and HIV care.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?

After my interview with the UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Program, I was impressed by the wide variety of residency resources and experiences curated by the faculty. I chose this residency because I knew that I would be supported wholeheartedly by the residents, faculty, and staff through these three years and beyond. I am excited to be back in my hometown for residency. I love Pittsburgh for its resiliency and camaraderie which I see reflected in the residents here at Shadyside.

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?

My goals in residency are to improve my procedural skills and to get more experience with maternity/4th trimester care. I am excited to learn more through discussing the niche interests of my co-residents and faculty. I think that this program's supportive, growth focused environment is going to help me become a more confident physician.

Do you have any special interests outside of the residency?

I love to try new foods with my husband, knit and crochet, enjoy the great outdoors, and do an assortment of "nerdy" things (video games, DnD, etc.) when time permits. I am a proud mom of twin girls, Maddie and Cece.
