Judy Deemer is the Nurse Manager for UPMC Shadyside Family Health Center. After graduating from nursing school, Judy worked at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on the cardiothoracic transplant unit for two years. In a desire to see a wider scope of patients, she then took a position at UPMC Home Healthcare. She provided case management and nursing care to patients in their homes for the next three years.
With the intent of eventually pursuing a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Judy joined UPMC Scherer Family Medicine (now UPMC Superior Family Medicine). She worked there for three years overseeing the clinical staff, workflows, and policies. It was at this position that Judy realized her love for leadership and practice management and chose to shift career paths towards administration.
Judy joined UPMC Shadyside Family Health Center in 2021 as the Nurse Manager. She redesigned the family medicine collaboration with psychiatry to incorporate e-consult capability. Ms. Deemer is a co-grantee for two grants: Minimizing No Show Appointments with Removing Transportation Barriers and the International Clinic. She supports Dr. Randy Kolb with the Team for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity. Ms. Deemer also teaches lectures to residents in PGY2 and PGY3 as part of the Health Systems Management rotation.
Judy loves all things Disney, especially Minnie Mouse! In her free time, she likes to journal, craft, and cross-stitch. Most of all, she loves spending time with her husband and son. They enjoy traveling, hiking, and watching their son play soccer.
