Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?
I am in the Osteopathic Recognition Track. I have an additional interest in maternity care and gynecology and plan to pursue further training through fellowship.
Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?
After studying out of state, I wanted to return to train and serve my home city. I rotated at Shadyside in my fourth year of medical school, and I was so impressed with the opportunities to learn the full scope of family medicine. The people were very supportive of one another and truly prioritized patient care. I knew I wanted to be a part of what they were doing, and I feel so lucky to be part of the Shadyside family!
What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?
My goal is to become a more compassionate physician and capable advocate for my patients in all areas of family medicine. This program provides a great community of physicians to learn from, strong didactics, and opportunities to learn and serve patients throughout the lifespan in Pittsburgh. I am excited to learn about myself and become an even better physician through my training here.
Do you have any special interests outside of the residency?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and my yellow lab, Obi, as well as reading, watching movies, hiking, biking, and gardening. I especially enjoy exploring the U.S. National Parks and have a goal to visit all 63 parks before I am 63.
