Olivia Jang, DO, MS

  • Third Year Resident

Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?

Not at this time, but I am interested in behavioral health, reproductive health, and lifestyle medicine.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program?  Why Pittsburgh?

I wanted to train in an academic program in an urban environment with strong ties to the community. I also rotated at the Family Health Center as a fourth-year medical student and really loved the people! Pittsburgh itself appealed to me because of its walkability, green spaces, and abundance of good food.

What are your goals while here in the residency program?  How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?

While in the residency program, my goal is to hone my motivational interviewing skills, work in a variety of physician practice settings, and provide excellent care to patients of all backgrounds. This will prepare me to become a well-rounded, patient-centered family medicine physician who can help my patients reach their health goals.

Do you have any special interests outside of the residency?

Outside of residency, I enjoy cooking and trying new restaurants. I also dabble in a variety of hobbies including board games, growing herbs and microgreens, karaoke, and hiking.
